Pickup truck crashes into Red Deer pub

-

A suspected impaired driver is facing numerous charges after crashing a pickup through the front doors of a Red Deer hotel pub Saturday night.

RCMP say the 27-year-old man drove between two pillars outside the Lion’s Den before smashing into the bar attached to the Quality Inn, causing extensive damage.

Pub patrons detained the suspect who was arrested without incident once police arrived, RCMP said.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver leave the pub in a taxi before returning soon after driving the truck.

No one was injured. The driver’s name was not released, pending charges being sworn in court.
