Economic rebound? What rebound?

Energy Minister McCuaigBoyd does not have a clue. Talk to me about the rebound in our economy.

I’m a seasoned HR/ business consultant and president of my own company. Part of what we do is outplacement and career consulting. Needless to say, the last few years have been exceptionally good for us, but not for many people in Western Canada.

We’re still in very tough shape in Alberta and I know first-hand how tough because I’m at street level. There are people from all walks of life who are unemployed and under-employed — some are now entering Year 3 of a job search and there is no positive light in sight, not yet.

I went through the disastrous 1980s as a multi-unit restaurant owner. Fast forward to today; a fellow restaurateur who still owns a large chain of well-known restaurants is having an extremely difficult time staying afloat. He feels the ’80s were boom times compared to now.

Our energy minister is not in tune with what’s really happening.
