Investigate all assault claims

-

Naomi Lakritz stated, sarcastically, that “if you’re the same person at 53 as you were at 15, then logically you must still be the same person you were at age six or three” in defence of the aged allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

What an ignorant statement to make. Of course, people change well past high school, but certain characteristics stay forever.

If you thought it was OK at 17 to sexually assault another person, you probably will always think that.

A child of six who tortures cats for enjoyment during his or her youth, will quite likely do that same thing as an adult, and probably harm other adults as well (research confirms this).

Another accuser in university made a similar accusation of Kavanaugh, but is that also too far back to mean anything now too? After how many years should someone get a clean slate?

If a person makes an assault claim against another individual, it should be investigated. It’s not OK to ruin someone’s career with allegations only, but it’s also not OK to ignore such claims and give someone a lifetime position as a sitting judge in the highest court of America. I’m quite certain if someone in elementary school made an accusation against Justin Trudeau, you’d call for his resignation.
