WESTMAN VILLAGE
Celebrating the opening
So, how did Jay Westman spend part of last weekend, you might ask?
“I had some company, cut a ribbon, opened a restaurant, listened to some music, and just enjoyed myself,” says the chairman and CEO of JaymanBuilt looking back at last weekend’s official opening of the impressive and unique Westman Village.
The amenities-rich, one-of-akind village is located on the banks of Mahogany Lake in the awardwinning community of Mahogany by Hopewell Residential.
Ground was broken in 2016, and Westman Village was recognized earlier this year with a BILD Calgary Region award for best design for a condo in its size category.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the official opening of Westman Village with its 14 show suites now open to the public — and accessible without safety gear,” Westman said at the ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
The opening ceremonies for the trendsetting lakeside development gave the company chairman the chance to not only show off 14 show suites and the impressive 40,000-square-foot Village Centre, but to flip the light switch to open the elegant-casual Headquarters Restaurant.
Next year will be a busy one for the village with more restaurants and retailers opening their doors to village and neighbourhood residents.
Looking further into the future, Westman said there will ultimately be 862 residences in the village spread over five different condominium market segments. Homes can be purchased or leased.
The Calligraphy building has condos measuring 537 to 1,135 square feet, while Reflection has estate condos from slightly over 1,500 square feet to nearly 2,600. Lyric offers leasing availability on units measuring from 603 to 1,116 square feet. Odyssey, with condos from 696 to 2,248 square feet has been designed for active adults, and the Journey Club is for seniors, some who may need assistance, and has units from 333 to 1,108 square feet.
Westman greeted those already living in the village and who volunteered for duty at the official opening, adding that by the end of this year approximately 230 more possessions will have occurred.
Construction continues on schedule to the point where right now there are 16 buildings at various points of construction, says Westman.
“We had more than 750 people come to our official opening,” he says. “It was quite an opening, with a lot of interest in what we have to offer in terms of residential opportunities and the level of amenities available to residents.”
And in the days following the opening, traffic through the village’s presentation centre remained brisk.
“I would estimate we’re getting 70 to 80 groups of people a week,” says Vanessa Sambrooke of Jayman’s marketing department.
Westman says that consumer interest covers everyone from young professional couples starting out to older folks making lifestyle changes.
When asked what he thought the appeal of Westman Village is, he replied: “I think there are two key elements — the Jayman name that has been synonymous with quality for about 38 years, and the fact that like every other Jayman home, Westman Village will be done the way we said it would be done.”
