Don’t let apathy silence your vote

-

Vote No. These Olympics will mainly benefit the rich while the middle class, who can’t afford to attend the events, pay for it.

It does not matter to me what country or city they take place in. I will still not be willing to pay the kind of money these tickets will cost. I will probably experience the Olympics like the rest of the world — in front of the TV.

The cost of these Olympics (like any other government project) will undoubtedly be double to triple the estimated cost. Who will be on the hook for all these cost overruns when it is all over (16 whole days)? The average Joe Citizen, who pays ever-increasing property taxes.

This is the first time I am aware of that we as Calgarians were asked our opinions on anything. The only time is every so often we get to vote for somebody to represent us in secret meetings and do whatever suits them, not their constituents.

I urge all Calgarians to not waste this opportunity to have your voice heard, no matter which way you want to vote. This is a huge decision that will affect all Calgarians and this vote should not be overtaken by the passionate Yes vote because of a lack of passion by the No vote.

If you oppose this even slightly, please go vote. Don’t let apathy decide this important decision.
