Off-duty officer charged with assault
An off-duty police officer was arrested on Saturday and charged with one count of assault, Calgary police say.
The arrest happened in a neighbouring municipality following an alleged domestic incident, police said in a news release Monday.
The male officer has been with the Calgary Police Service for 22 years. Police say they are not releasing the officer’s name to protect the privacy of the victim.
The service member has been relieved from duty with pay and his status will be reviewed over the next 30 days.
