Downie doc heads to CBC

A documentar­y chroniclin­g the final year of Gord Downie’s life will première Oct. 12 on CBC. Finding the Secret Path, a one-hour program featuring never-beforeseen footage, is the last instalment in a trilogy of CBC films celebratin­g the Tragically Hip frontman. The first two were The Secret Path (2016) and Gord Downie’s Secret Path in Concert (2017). Finding the Secret Path focuses on Downie’s efforts to bring Chanie Wenjack’s story to Canadians — Wenjack was an Ojibwa boy who ran away from a residentia­l school and died in 1966. The documentar­y will also be available on the CBC TV streaming app and at cbc.ca/watch. Downie died on Oct. 17, 2017, of glioblasto­ma, a type of brain cancer.
