A retired Calgary neurologist is now facing 21 sexual assault charges after more than a dozen new alleged victims have come forward, police say.

In June, Dr. Keith Mordin Hoyte was charged with three counts of sexual assault after a woman told police she was touched sexually during a medical exam in 2007.

An investigation revealed two other historical cases with similar allegations against the same doctor, leading police to lay three counts of sexual assault against Hoyte.

Now, police say 16 more women have reported “similar incidents,” leading to 18 additional counts of sexual assault.

Police say the alleged assaults date back nearly 30 years to 1991.

Hoyte, 70, will next appear in court on Nov. 21.

Police are encouraging anyone who has experienced a sexual assault to report it, regardless of how long ago it happened.
