Man missing since November likely met with foul play: police

- SAMMY HUDES shudes@postmedia.com

Calgary police believe a 35-yearold man missing since November 2017 was the victim of a homicide.

Adam Stewart Young was last seen leaving his home, a condo building in the 200 block of 11th Avenue S.E., at about 10 p.m. on Nov. 20. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Police say they haven’t received any tips as to his whereabouts since appealing to the public last year.

“Since Nov. 20, we have exhausted all footprints of life for Adam and believe that he has met with foul play,” said Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary police homicide unit.

Schiavetta said Young’s phone and bank account have been inactive since that date, according to records accessed by police.

After interviewing multiple family members, friends and associates of Young, as well as reviewing substantial CCTV footage gathered from the area, police say there is “a strong probability” of foul play.

“At this time, we do not know where Adam’s body is and obviously we’re trying to bring closure to his family,” Schiavetta said.

He said Young had “a lot of connections to Calgary,” but declined to comment further on whether he was known to police.

He said detectives have identified “numerous” suspects who have a history with Calgary police.

“Obviously, most of our homicides, we have located a deceased body,” Schiavetta said. “This obviously is unusual that we have not and that’s why we’re appealing to the public 10 months later.”

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.

Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
