- SAMMY HUDES

RCMP have charged three men and seized more than 20 kilograms of marijuana following a garage explosion in Airdrie last month.

Mounties were called around 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 6 to the scene of the explosion on 1st Avenue N.E.

The Airdrie Fire Department said the explosion caused significant damage to the detached garage. Two men in the garage were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Airdrie RCMP’s crime reduction unit obtained a search warrant for the damaged garage and home, which led Mounties to seize more than 300 new and empty butane cans, along with equipment to extract hash oil from the marijuana.

RCMP also seized more than 20 kilograms of marijuana worth about $300,000 on the street.

Mounties have charged 22-yearold Nicholas Desourdy of Calgary, along with Taylor Edwards and Jordan Filipovic, both 24, of Airdrie.

The three are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of cannabis and possession of cannabis resin over one gram.
