Oct. 7: 11 a.m. Pentecost 20 with Pastor Deborah Kerr at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 8007 Bowness Road N.W. Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” Afterwards, share in fellowship and baking.

Oct. 17: The 50th annual Calgary Leadership Prayer Breakfast will occur Oct. 17 at 7 a.m. at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre. Formerly known as the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, the event is an affirmatio­n of faith in God through testimony, prayer and fellowship. This year’s keynote speaker is Postmedia columnist Licia Corbella, who will be addressing the theme of freedom and her own journey of faith. Oct. 28: 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1311 5 Street S.W. Amazing Grace is a well known hymn, but do you know the story of its composer, Anglican minister John Newton? Through drama and music with the Core Celebratio­n Choir, we will feature the story of how a slave trader became transforme­d by the love of God (and his wife) to become a popular Anglican minister, author, hymn writer, and an outspoken advocate against slavery. This drama, written and performed by Deanna Storfie of Acting Up! Drama will inspire and encourage your faith, while challengin­g you to engage with and influence your world for Christ.
