Sinclair up for first women’s Ballon d’Or
Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair is among 15 players competing for the inaugural women’s Ballon d’Or. For the first time, France Football magazine is awarding the individual honour this year to a woman and a man Dec. 3 in Paris. Sinclair, from Burnaby, B.C., was among the nominees unveiled Monday along with Brazil’s Marta, Ada Hegerberg of Norway and Germany international Dzsenifer Marozsan. With 173 international goals over her career, Sinclair is second only to retired American Abby Wambach, who scored 184. Sinclair, who wears No. 12, needs an even dozen more to set the world record for most international goals.
