Family joins search for missing man
Police say Airdrie resident left party and may have been walking to Billings
The family of an Airdrie man who went missing last Thursday in Montana has travelled south to help look for him.
Cameron Collin was last seen about 23 kilometres southeast of Billings, Mont., around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, where he was attending a bachelor party.
The Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office said it believes that Collin, 37, walked away from a ranch property on Pryor Road where the party was held and may have attempted to walk to Billings. There is no evidence of foul play. “We’ve had a few little tips we’re trying to follow up on. At this point, we don’t have a lot to go on,” said Lt. Kent O’Donnell of the Yellowstone County Sheriff ’s Office.
“Nothing seems suspicious but a lot of this is out of the ordinary, it sounds like, for his personality to be gone this long without talking to someone.”
The sheriff ’s office said search and rescue teams, along with friends and residents in the area, have searched the property and surrounding area without luck.
It is asking residents who live along Pryor Creek and Pryor Creek Road to check their property for any signs of Collin.
“Cameron’s family has come to town hoping to help out,” O’Donnell said. “We’re going to resume a ground search (Thursday), kind of cover some areas that we already covered.”
Collin does have some familiarity with the area where he went missing, according to police.
Collin is about six-foot-five and 200 pounds, with a skinny build, according to police. He has a noticeable gap between his front teeth.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans, cowboy boots and a black, long-sleeve T-shirt with “Affliction” on the front.
Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Yellowstone County Sheriff ’s Office at 406-256-2929.
