CANNABIS ON ALBERTA CAMPUSES

Edmonton

The University of Alberta will permit smoking and vaping of cannabis products on campus within a small number of specific locations.

MacEwan University is still considerin­g whether to allow smoking of recreation­al cannabis in a preexistin­g smoking area or whether a separate area should be designated.

Maintainin­g a smoke-free campus, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology will uphold its existing policy that prohibits all smokingbas­ed products.

Red Deer

The City of Red Deer updated its smoking bylaw on Sept. 4 to prohibit consuming cannabis in public and Red Deer College is expected to prohibit consumptio­n as well.

Calgary

Basing its policy on city bylaws, the University of Calgary will prohibit cannabis consumptio­n on campus.

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology will prohibit cannabis consumptio­n on campus.

Mount Royal University will prohibit cannabis consumptio­n on campus.

Lethbridge

The University of Lethbridge has establishe­d five areas on campus where cannabis smoking and vaping will be permitted.
