Stamps set historic standard

-

If anyone needed proof that the Calgary Stampeders have been on a historic run, this is it.

Yes, the Stamps have lost a few big games in recent years — Grey Cups, specifically.

But the CFL confirmed Thursday that the club has also done something that no other team has done in the league’s history.

With their win over the Montreal Alouettes Monday, the Stamps improved their record to 12-2.

That made them the first team in CFL history to win 12 games for seven straight seasons.

No other team has won at least 12 games in a season for more than five years in a row.

More impressively, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are the only other team to do that, having won 12plus games over a five-year stretch between 1957 and 1961.
