Original sin dogma mistreats children
Re: State hypocrisy on religious schools, Letter, Oct. 11 In response to Amy Beange’s letter, wherein she accuses the system of “rank hypocrisy” for the manner of funding faith-based schools, I believe that a trusted person telling a child that they are a sinner at birth is emotional ill-treatment that potentially harms the dignity of the child, and consequently faith-based schools which teach a religion with the “original sin” dogma are committing child maltreatment, as defined by the World Health Organization, and should be closed down.
