What to watch for in business this week:

The Bank of Canada releases its latest business outlook survey and senior loan officer poll Monday. The business outlook survey will be scrutinize­d ahead of the central bank’s next rate decision set for Oct. 24.

Fortune Global Forum 2018 kicks off in Toronto on Monday with the CEOs of the world’s biggest firms. It will feature current and former Canadian politician­s and executives, such as from RBC and CPPIB.

Canada will awaken in an altered state on Wednesday as the legalizati­on of recre- ational pot comes into effect. Aphria Inc. CEO Vic Neufeld told analysts Friday that there will likely be a supply shortage.

CP Rail will report third-quarter earnings on Thursday. It is betting on more crude-byrail shipments amid pipeline bottleneck­s.

Statistics Canada releases the consumer

price index data for September on Friday. The annual inflation rate was 2.8 per cent in August, near the top end of the Bank of Canada’s target range of one to three per cent.
