Pedestrian killed by CTrain hours after young girl fatally struck

Calgary police say a man has died after being struck by a CTrain.

About 1:18 p.m. Monday, police were called to the Erlton station for reports that an adult male had been struck by a CTrain.

Calgary EMS were called to the scene but the victim was declared dead, and not taken to hospital.

Earlier Monday morning, a sixyear-old girl who was walking alone across the CTrain tracks at 162nd Avenue and Shawville Rise just before 8 a.m. panicked after the crossing arm and bells were activated, and turned back into the path of an oncoming train.

She was rushed to Alberta Children’s Hospital but later died.
