Recycling program unfair to seniors

-

Why are seniors paying for a program they didn’t ask for, don’t use, don’t need or want. Myself included.

I’ve spoken with a lot of seniors who live alone and, like many don’t use the blue (recycling), and green (composting) bins.

I’ve pleaded with the city to allow me to opt out of this program, without success. And some, like me, don’t throw out any trash, let alone contribute to a recycling program that’s supposed to pay for itself. Or at least that’s what they told seniors when the program was introduced.

Several seniors I’ve spoken with can’t afford proper food or to pay for their prescriptions, yet they are being forced to pay for a program that is not being used.

Would someone somewhere take a stand and say enough is enough.

We seniors cannot afford this program.
