ONE IN FOUR WOULD END FRIENDSHIP OVER PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA
Despite the Hawaiian pizza’s proud Ontario origins, one-quarter of Canadians deem it “blasphemy” to put pineapple on pizza, according to a new survey by Abacus Data. A further 28 per cent said it is “tough” to be friends with a Hawaiian pizza enthusiast, and some even deemed it a friendship “dealbreaker.” Abacus’ pineapple findings come from an August survey of 1,000 Canadian adults conducted in conjunction with Canadian Pizza Magazine. Hawaiian pizza was invented in 1962 by Chatham pizzeria owner Sam Panopoulos.
