RIHANNA BACKS KAEPERNICK

-

Rihanna reportedly declined an invitation

to headline the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show to stand in solidarity with American football player Colin Kaepernick.

“The NFL and CBS (TV executives) really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”

The QB sparked controversy in 2016 when he began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice. He has not played in the league since early 2017 and is suing the NFL, accusing owners of colluding to keep him off the field.

“The offer and exposure would have been great for Rihanna ..., but she stuck to what’s right in her eyes,” a source said.

It has been reported that Maroon 5 will headline the Feb. 4 show.
