Lack of info on mail-in ballots

-

In September, I was told by a city elections representative that information about mailin ballots would be advertised on the radio, on TV and in the newspaper. Although this may be the case, I have discovered that none of my friends or acquaintances were aware that they could request a mail-in ballot, in the event that they are out of town in November. They assumed that since they would be absent on Nov. 13, and for any of the advance polls, that they wouldn’t be able to vote.

For those who would miss the opportunity to vote in November, they can call 403-476-4100, or visit the Elections and Census Office at 1103 55th Ave. N.E. or go to Calgary.ca/Vote2018 and scroll down to request a mailin ballot.

The deadline for returning the mail-in ballots is Nov. 13.

In future, I would like to suggest that one cost-effective way to spread important information to the residents, might be to include it in the weekly emails about waste and/or garbage days. Corrine Baird, Calgary
