DEF­I­NI­TION: The old­est known spear­heads in North Amer­ica have been found at a site that has al­ready re­vealed many trea­sures. Ar­chae­ol­o­gists at But­ter­milk Creek in Texas have un­cov­ered the old­est known spear­heads found in North Amer­ica. The new “pro­jec­tile points,” re­ported this week in the jour­nal Science Ad­vances, come in two un­usual shapes — which adds to the ev­i­dence that the first peo­ple ar­rived in the Amer­i­cas ear­lier than re­searchers thought.
