Rookie Ambles to face Bombers

The Calgary Stampeders are sticking with what works.

That means that receiver Bakari Grant’s debut will have to wait at least one more week, as the team will start rookie Markeith Ambles for Friday night’s game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“(Grant) is still working hard, I’m trying to get some continuity and some chemistry,” said Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson.

“I know he can play, but I’m still messing with the ratio and to be honest, Markeith, Ambles looked as good as anyone last week.”

While the Stamps didn’t have a great game against the Riders, Ambles played well and finished with eight receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Grant signed last week to help ease the burden of so many injuries to key receivers, and because he was with the Stampeders in 2016, he knows the team’s system.

Expect him to play at some point soon.

“I’d like to see Bakari play in the next few weeks, but no guarantees there,” Dickenson said.
