Calypso star Bailey dies

Calypso legend Winston (Shadow) Bailey has died, aged 77. The musician died at Mount Hope Hospital in Trinidad on Tuesday, following complicati­ons from a stroke. Bailey had hits with songs like Dingolay, Tension and Bassman, and was handed the Hummingbir­d Medal, one of the highest civilian honours bestowed in Trinidad and Tobago, for his contributi­ons to the arts. He was also scheduled to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, for his contributi­ons to music. That award will now be presented posthumous­ly on Saturday. His life is the subject of the 2017 documentar­y King From Hell.
