Calypso star Bailey dies
Calypso legend Winston (Shadow) Bailey has died, aged 77. The musician died at Mount Hope Hospital in Trinidad on Tuesday, following complications from a stroke. Bailey had hits with songs like Dingolay, Tension and Bassman, and was handed the Hummingbird Medal, one of the highest civilian honours bestowed in Trinidad and Tobago, for his contributions to the arts. He was also scheduled to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, for his contributions to music. That award will now be presented posthumously on Saturday. His life is the subject of the 2017 documentary King From Hell.
