Never mind selling Arms, don’t Buy oil

-

Re: To Sell or Not To Sell to Saudis? Opinion, Oct. 25

The question should be to buy or not to buy? We are considering cancelling Canada’s $15-billion deal to sell light armoured vehicles to the Saudis, yet we continue to buy $10 million of Saudi crude per day!

In six months of 2018, Canada imported $1.8 billion of Saudi oil, according to stats from the National Post. They are our second-largest supplier of oil after the U.S.

Could the fear be that if we cut the arms deal, they cut our oil supply? What would we do then?

Here’s an idea, build a pipeline, call it the Energy East and support our own energy industry and buy our country’s oil reserves.
