Nova Scotia to host women’s world hockey

Nova Scotia has won its bid to host the 2020 Internatio­nal Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championsh­ip, with teams set to face off in Halifax and Truro. Hockey Canada said the event has had a significan­t economic impact on host provinces, with British Columbia earning an estimated $7.4 million in 2016 and Ontario bringing in about $14.3 million in 2013. Canada’s national women’s hockey team has played in every gold-medal game at the IIHF Women’s World Championsh­ip since the inaugural tournament in 1990, winning 10 gold medals and eight silvers.
