Just here for the music, man
Recently, I invited two American friends to a Murray McLauchlan concert to experience an authentic Canadian musician, and one of my alltime favourites. It was great, until that fateful, predictable moment, when ‘Murr’ was apparently obligated, like all performers these days, to begin expounding his brilliant insight into American politics.
But, just to be fair and balanced (so Canadian!), he got his licks in against the oil industry, too (did he forget he was in Calgary?).
People attend concerts to get away from the clanging cymbals of dissent in our society. Musicians, I beg you, please give us these few brief hours of peace!
