Games would be good for business

-

I am in support of a resounding Yes for the 2026 Olympic Bid, as a native Albertan and as a local business builder.

The reasons for my support are based on the business opportunities that will come from the construction buildup, and for the improved facilities and infrastructure that will remain and be well used after the Games end.

The economy in Calgary and Alberta is in poor shape and will continue this way for some time. A push to prepare for and to host a Winter Olympics in 2026 can give a much-needed boost. The investment in facilities and infrastructure will create tens of thousands of person-years in employment in construction, architecture, planning and related fields — and in a wide spectrum of the economy from hospitality, retail, real estate, media, marketing, advertising, supply chain, job training and more.

Winning the Olympic bid will be good for Calgary and Alberta. We need to regain our “Can Do” ethic. We need these Games.
