From college to Coldplay
Documentary traces the history of one of the world’s biggest bands
Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams
With 114 dates and an audience in excess of five million, Coldplay’s Head Full of Dreams tour in 2016 stands as the third-highest-grossing tour of all time, behind sets by U2 and the Rolling Stones. But if you managed to miss the show, or just want to relive it, Mat Whitecross has the ticket.
The music video director and documentary filmmaker — he shot 2016’s Oasis: Supersonic — follows the band on its tour but also looks back at the history of Coldplay, from the 1996 meeting between lead singer Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland at University College London, to, well, playing for a global audience of five million.
Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams will screen at select cinemas worldwide on Nov. 14, and can be streamed on Amazon Prime beginning Nov. 16.
