Your range is keeping a secret

- MELISSA HANK

Life is filled with its share of mysteries, like why do you park in the driveway, and drive on the parkway? And what exactly is that drawer under your oven for?

If you’ve been losing sleep over that last question, take heart.

A report from PopSugar says that while many people use it for storing pots, pans, baking sheets and the like, it could also be a warming drawer or a broiler.

If your electric oven has a “warming drawer” button, you can use it to keep pies, casseroles or meats toasty before you eat.

A gas stove with a heating unit on the bottom means you likely have a broiler drawer, which can brown the top of a casserole or broil vegetables.

Check your oven’s manual to make sure.
