Soonelewd incident is OK?

-

Re: Clement admits he was target of extortion, Nov. 9 Coverage of this disgraceful episode includes a quote from Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer: “I took Tony at his word, that it had been an isolated incident.” Really? In other words, it would have been OK if Clement had only sent lewd pictures and videos once to one woman? But having discovered it was a number of women, it’s now not OK? How does that fly?

Firstly, calling Clement “Tony” denotes chumminess and friendship; and second, it demeans women in general by saying once is fine, but not twice.

You’d think “#metoo” would have woken people up but, apparently, the sense of entitlement on The Hill continues to run rampant. I know of what I speak because I worked for a number of ministers in Trudeau senior’s cabinet in the ’70s. Nothing ’s changed.
