Calgary police look for two suspects in stabbing of convenience store clerk
Police are hoping for public assistance to track down a pair of suspects linked to a vicious robbery that left a convenience store clerk with life-threatening injuries.
Just after 10 p.m. Monday, an unidentified man walked into the Lucky 7 convenience store at 6800 Memorial Drive E., demanding money from the cashier who had been standing at the back of the store with some customers.
Police said the would-be robber attacked the cashier, stabbing him before fleeing the store without any property or cash.
He was joined in his flight by a woman who had been seen outside the store also holding a knife.
A pair of customers who were in the store were able to provide first aid to the wounded clerk before police arrived and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
His status has since been upgraded to stable.
Police are looking for a male suspect in his 20s, about 5-foot-6 wearing a dark hoodie with a green design on the back, blue jeans and a white baseball cap.
The male suspect’s female companion is an approximately five feet tall white woman with a slim build.
Investigators are gathering surveillance footage from nearby businesses and said they may release images of the suspects, but hope anyone with information will call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
