Crosby misses practice with upper-body issue

skipped practice while being evaluated Wednesday for an upper-body injury. Crosby did not miss a shift and played more than 21 minutes during Pittsburgh’s 4-2 loss to New Jersey on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Crosby is off to an uneven start for the Penguins, with eight goals and 11 assists in 16 games. Meanwhile, the Penguins signed general manager Jim Rutherford to a three-year contract extension through the 2021-22 season. Rutherford managed the Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championsh­ips in 2016 and 2017, becoming the only GM since the 1967 expansion to manage multiple teams to NHL titles. He also won a Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.
