Fair process one can live with
I really enjoyed the process that delivered the no vote even though I voted yes. I was able to listen to the people who voted no during many conversations with family and friends. It was not confrontational or divisive. The conversations were thoughtful and constructive and helped me understand why people voted no.
This is the foundation of democracy; to vote, and sometimes to see your vote lose and to support the other side of the vote. That happens from understanding the other perspective. I do not ever get that feeling from Ottawa, Edmonton or Calgary City Hall. What is next? How about the art budget? How about the tax increases? How about spending cuts in place of tax increases? Our councillors and mayor could spend their time doing their job; to educate us versus thinking (poorly) for us.
