Plan frugally to boost city’s lot
Congratulations to fellow citizens in rejecting the 2026 Olympic bid. In its wild dream of glory, city council caved in to souvenir pedlars, vested interests, partygoers and Olympic badge collectors with little or no consideration to the legacy of debt. Provincial and federal governments are broke and any money provided by them was borrowed money Calgarians would have to pay back. Just like debt-financed prosperity, debt-financed glory is an illusion and Calgarians have clearly said so. City council must accept the verdict, learn how to govern and live more frugally, and improve our city starting with the elimination of the out-of-control tax-and-spend culture prevailing today.
