Stampede ties down Grammy winner for 2019 concert series
It’s still more than seven months away, but the Calgary Stampede is already gearing up for its annual hoedown come July.
The western showcase has just announced that Grammy Awardwinning group Zac Brown Band will make its only Alberta appearance during the 10-day party.
The Atlanta-based country band will play the Scotiabank Saddledome July 12 as part of the Virgin Mobile Stampede Concert Series.
“This announcement is an Alberta exclusive,” said Adam Oppenheim, president of Stampede Entertainment Inc. “Zac Brown Band is the gold standard in live performance and never leaves an audience wanting. (Their) music is a part of the Stampede time soundtrack."
Over the last decade, the band has had five consecutive albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and four consecutive albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. They’ve won three Grammys and sold more than 30 million singles, including chart-toppers Chicken Fried, Knee Deep, Toes and Homegrown.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 23 at 10 a.m., starting at $59.99 (plus applicable fees). Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster or by phone at 1-855-985-5000. Show tickets include admission to the Calgary Stampede on the day of the concert.
