CLARIFICATION
Due to an error by city administration, incorrect information appeared in an article published Monday, Nov. 19 on page A3. A report from the City of Calgary’s Risk Management & Claims department indicated the city paid about $9.9 million in third-party insurance claims in 2017, which would have represented an increase of more than $3 million over the previous year. In fact, the city actually paid out roughly $6.9 million in third-party insurance claims in 2017, whereas the $9.9 million figure applied to city business unit insurance claims that year.
