Break postal service into two

Re: Canada Post Given More Time To Settle Labour Dispute, Nov. 20

I believe I have a solution for Canada Post and the labour issues they are facing. Firstly, they should separate the letter carriers from the parcel service which services small business operations and delivery of their products.

With respect to the letter carriers, they can formulate a union contract that would have them working threefour days a week as that is all that is required for the reduction of mail that is being delivered in today’s world. Most people are now getting all their bills electronically and if they are not, they should be. Almost all money is now transferred electronically. Three days a week would be very efficient and would reduce the number of letter carriers required — maybe it would be a good part-time job for some people.

The parcel service could be run much like that of the Fed Ex or UPS type businesses and maybe this could be contracted out to them.
