Dickenson fined for Canadian comment

- TODD SAELHOF

The CFL has reportedly fined Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson for comments picked up by a live TV microphone in Sunday’s playoff win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“Hearing that the CFL has quietly fined Calgary head coach Dave Dickenson for comments about the @Wpg_BlueBombers that went to air during Sunday’s Western Final,” TSN football analyst Dave Naylor tweeted on Tuesday.

During the game, Dickenson yelled about why all the calls were going the way of Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea and then said “F---ing Canadian” before the camera and microphone cut away.

On Monday, Dickenson apologized and addressed the situation at his morning media availability at McMahon Stadium and said his comment had nothing to do with Canadians and instead was the first half of a nickname the Stamps use for some of the Blue Bombers, who have a heavy contingent of Canadians in their management.
