Stamps to wear home reds for Grey Cup

- TODD SAELHOF tsaelhof @postmedia.com

Both Grey Cup finalists sport the same colour scheme in their uniforms.

Red, white and black make up their costume.

But it’ll be the Calgary Stampeders in their traditional red jerseys — with red helmets and black pants — on Sunday at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium (4 p.m., TSN/770 CHQR).

“Yeah, man … we get to wear our home jerseys,” Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell said. “That’s good. The last time we wore our home jerseys in the Grey Cup, we won it.”

That was back in 2014 at BC Place in a 20-16 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

And just as it was back in that championship season, the reds come out for the Stampeders because they are considered the home team as the CFL’s West Division representative at a venue hosted in a West Division city.

The Redblacks then will wear their away whites.
