Politicians, break out the dictionary
Re: “Focus on needs rather than wants,” Letter, Nov. 19 It’s called Austerity: a political-economic term referring to policies that aim to reduce government budget deficits through spending cuts, reducing public administration, as well as public employment. Austerity measures are used by governments that find it difficult to pay their debts. Evidently, the word does not exist in the parlance of our governments.
