Woman airlifted to hospital following crash in Cochrane
One woman was airlifted to hospital a following a two-vehicle, headon collision along Highway 1A in Cochrane on Thursday morning.
EMS said they responded to the scene of the crash just before 9 a.m.
Police said the incident happened near Gleneagles Drive, when a westbound driver swerved into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound sedan head-on while attempting to avoid a separate threevehicle rear-end collision.
The occupant of the eastbound vehicle was taken to hospital in serious condition, RCMP said in a statement Thursday, while no one else needed to be sent to hospital. STARS Air Ambulance said earlier it transferred one woman to Foothills Hospital in serious condition.
Highway 1A reopened Thursday afternoon.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to go to the Cochrane RCMP detachment to provide a statement.
