Poor choice for oil price panel
Re: Oilpatch foe to advise on price gap; Notley’s former chief of staff to work with industry he previously undermined, Opinion, Nov. 20
Licia Corbella correctly points out the anti-Alberta positions taken by Brian Topp in the not too distant past. In fact, the premier’s concern about “real and present danger to the Canadian economy” comes to mind when reviewing Topp’s contributions to Alberta.
To mention just one — reflect on the PPA debacle that was apparently spearheaded by Topp with the launching in 2016 of the NDP’s Enron Clause Lawsuit that ended with a whimper last spring.
It has been reported that experts estimate the taxpayers will be paying off the resulting hundreds of millions of dollars for decades to come. No one argues with the attempt to find a solution to our current situation, but one has to wonder why the appointment needs to be someone who comes equipped with “landmines?”
