Listen to voters on fluoride

-

Re: Reasons for No vote are easy to understand, Opinion, Nov. 21

City council had the fortune to enact the will of the people and vote No on the Olympic bid. Unfortunately, as columnist Naomi Lakritz notes, in 2011 council unilaterally removed fluoride from the water, contravening the positive outcomes of two plebiscites that voted in favour of fluoridation in 1989 and 1998. In removing fluoride from the water, councillors are needlessly harming the oral health of Calgarians.

Mayor Nenshi already supports putting fluoride back in, dentists and scientists support putting it back in, and so did Calgarians.

City council, you listened to Calgarians once this week, time to do it again.
