BROWNS GET THEIR VENGEANCE

-

The St. Francis Browns gutted out a lowscoring affair to earn their third high school provincial football championship in four years.

The strange 3-2 victory came over the top-ranked Harry Ainlay Titans from Edmonton at the Alberta Bowl high school football championships played at SMS Equipment Field in Fort McMurray.

It was vengeance for the final lost last year to the Titans to bust up the Browns’ bid for three straight Alberta crowns.

In the Tier 2 provincial final, the Lloydminster Barons topped Okotoks’ Holy Trinity Academy Knights 22-7.

In Tier 3 action, the top-ranked Cochrane Cobras won the provincial crown again. That makes five straight seasons they ’ve won the title, this time after a 25-8 victory over Lloydminster’s Holy Rosary Raiders.
