OprAh’s mom dies At 83

Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, has died in her home in Milwaukee. The family told People magazine Lee died on Thursday, the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. She was 83. Lee, a housekeeper by profession, is survived by Winfrey and daughter Patricia Amanda Faye Lee, whom she gave up for adoption at birth. Lee had two other children — son Jeffrey Lee, who died in 1989, and daughter Patricia Lee Lloyd, who died in 2003. Winfrey’s spokesperson says Lee has already been laid to rest at a private funeral.
