Injured pedestrian killed after being struck by second vehicle

EDMONTON An injured woman in a hit-and-run crash in north Edmonton Wednesday was killed after being hit by a second vehicle whose driver fled the scene, say police.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. when the 38-year-old victim was hit by a black Toyota Corolla while crossing 127 Street from 127 Avenue. The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene.

“While the pedestrian remained injured on the road a second vehicle, a sedan, also struck the pedestrian but did not remain on scene,” police spokespers­on Cheryl Sheppard said in an email Thursday.

The woman died at the scene.
