SECRET ‘ATTACK TUNNEL’ NETWORK TO BE DESTROYED

Israel’s military says it will find and destroy a network of Hezbollah “attack tunnels” that run from southern Lebanon into its territory. The Israeli Defence Forces said Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group, dug tunnels for its fighters to ambush soldiers and civilians. It said one tunnel stretched 40 metres into Israel. None was operational yet and there was “no immediate threat,” the IDF said. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, said: “Whoever tries to attack Israel will pay a heavy price.” Hezbollah did not deny building the tunnels, but said Israel had targeted those going to “settlements in northern occupied Palestine.”
