Cochrane RCMP have charged an Edmonton man in connection with a break-in at a rural home in Cochrane on Sunday afternoon.

Mounties were called to the residence in Rocky View County around 2:30 p.m. for reports of a man armed with a gun trying to steal a vehicle.

Upon arrival, Cochrane RCMP say they noticed the man had broken into the home. He maintained periodic communications with police and eventually threw a gun out the window.

RCMP continued trying unsuccessfully to get the intruder to surrender, police said.

The RCMP Emergency Response Team attended the scene and arrested one person. Cory Leon Bull, 42, is charged with 12 counts, including theft of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property under $5,000, break and enter, and failure to comply with conditions.

Bull has been remanded and is scheduled to appear in a Cochrane courtroom on Friday.

No one was injured during the incident.
